LAKEVILLE - We are excited to team together with Jersey Mike's Subs as they sponsor a Player of the Week at LaVille High School! Coaches and LaVille Athletic Department personnel will select various student-athletes from baseball, boys golf, boys track and field, girls tennis, girls track and field, and softball. Our boys track and field recipient this week is LaVille sophomore Dylan Miller. He was nominated by coach Kathe Beehler. We had a minute to catch up with Dylan and ask him how things were going last week as he continues to work following an injury and he gets inserted into the meet a little more. "I feel like the 800 could have been a little bit better, but I was able to win both of those," said Miller. "We ended up long jumping, tried it for the first time ... It felt really good, really loose ... our relays have been doing pretty good so far this season." Dylan is a pretty busy guy on the track, currently performing in four events - 800m, long jump, the 4X100 relay and 4X400 relay. "Picked up long jumping here midway through this year and it is going pretty well. Probably going to continue with it the rest of the year and into sectionals." What is his favorite event? According to Dylan, "definitley the 800! ... my lactic doesn't kick in like most people, so we're catching people at the end right there and I seem to have good endurance for it. I feel like I can run it with the lead or run in the middle of the pack depending on what some of the others in the race are doing. I've been fortunate to pick it up and then win it at the end." Like the other LaVille student-athletes so far, Miller is very thankful to Jersey Mike's Subs for the acknowledgement. "Oh man, this is definitely a great opportunity, especially since most of us are Jersey Mike's fans in this area," Miller said with a smile. "It's pretty amazing to get some free food from there.
