LAKEVILLE - Brooke Edison has signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana. Edison, a three-sport athlete, plans to participate in the Bethel University track and field program. "A lot of deciding factors were scholarships and cost to go to Bethel," said Edison. "That, along with family and friends that are going there." When we asked her about getting the chance to continue on at the next level, Edison said, "I think it's a super awesome experience not a lot of people can go into college level sports because it is a lot more difficult and challenging. I think it's cool to be able to be part of a team outside of high school. Also the great opportunity to continue my athletic career at a school like my sister and some good people." The 5-foot-9 standout has earned 11 letters at LaVIlle, entering her final year in track and field. With her experience in high jump, long jump and several running events, including relay competition, she is a high quality utility student-athlete. According to Edison, she has not quite decided on what she plans to study or where she will fit into the Bethel track and field event layout next season. "Not fully decided yet on what I am going to study," said Edison, who follows in dad Michael's college choice and older sister Lauren's decision to attend Bethel.  "It is between business and education. "I don't know yet what event I will participate in.  We'll see how it goes ... we'll see how I perform by the end of this track season and we'll see what events Bethel needs me to participate in." Edison is coming off a 2024 high jump sectional championship and looks forward to competing in her senior season in Lakeville "I like high jump," said Edison, who started off just trying the high jump and ended up enjoying the event.  "It is so fun. We'll there's nothing ... I just tried it one day and I realized I was actually good at it and I just kept working at it." And, her work continues to provide results. As a sophomore, she was jumping at 4-foot-10.  Then as a junior, she increased that to 5-foot. "It's been fun," Edison said with a smile.  "I have been in a lot of different events so it is cool to try a lot of new things. I love field events, high jump in particular.  Being a part of a team and getting to workout after school is fun." She might not know how she can contribute next season at the NAIA school, she just wants to help the Pilots succeed. "Kind of to be determined," said Edison when asked if she knows what events she might run in at Bethel.  "I'll probably do jumping of some sort, maybe high jump, long jump and we'll see after that.  It's just kind of what is best for our team."
