VALPARAISO - The tip-off to the 2026-27 Indiana High School Athletic Association girls basketball regular season is here! While some schools have an intra-squad scrimmage, other schools play another school in a somewhat controlled environment. On Thursday, October 29, the LaVille squad will trek to Morgan Township for the season-opening scrimmage. Morgan Township HS is located in Valparaiso, IN., approximately 62 minutes from LaVille. The address is: Morgan Township Middle/High School, 299 State Rte 49, Valparaiso, IN 46383 Since 2012, the Lancers have played different schools in a girls basketball scrimmage. Lewis Cass and Mishawaka have been opponents in recent history LHS coach Nicholas Amor felt they would benefit more from an intra-squad scrimmage last year. But opted for a scrimmage against the Cherokees this time around. "For me, a scrimmage just gives the girls an opportunity to get back into the feel of what it's like to be on the court in front of a crowd," said Amor. "Not much more than that. "We're going to try some things in the scrimmage and it gives us an opportunity to see some of your weaknesses early on. There was no real significance in us playing them. It's an opportunity for the girls to get a feel for game type situations. We felt like it was easier than to try and schedule a blue-white scrimmage. So, we just said yes, and we're heading that way." The scrimmage is scheduled for a 6:30pm EDT start.
