Jr. High Volleyball Battles Tippecanoe Valley

The junior high volleyball team traveled to Tippecanoe Valley for a Indiana Northern State Conference match Thursday. Both matches were barnburners. The seventh grade was tight throughout, ultimately decided by the win by two criteria. Macy Smith led in serving with 11 points (five aces). Sophia Lockridge six points (two aces). Smith led in passing followed by Charlotte Higley and Lillian Kapke. Kapke had 5 hits and Charlotte Higley, Jennesee Marlatt and Liberty Mitchell each had 2 hits. Macy Smith also had 4 tips. LaVille fell 26-24 and 27-25 in a hard-fought match. The eighth grade match went three sets, ending in a 2-1 decision for the Vikings. Harper Knebel led in serving with 11 points (two aces) and Hailie Unger had nine points (four aces) for LaVille. Chessa Menis, Sofia Corr, and Unger topped the stats in passing. Menis, Unger, and Maddy Nace led in hitting. Harper Knebel had four blocks and one stuff. LaVille returns to action with back-to-back home matches. On September 14, the Lancers will play host to Culver Community at 5:00 PM. The Junior Lancers then return to INSC play against Jimtown on September 15. First serve is set for 5:30 PM.
