LAKEVILLE - North Judson came to Lakeville Friday for a good old fashioned small-school showdown. From the opening kick to the final horn, the Bluejays were in control of nearly every aspect of the game played at Lancer Field on August 28, 2026. Coach Brett Lambert's club rolled to over 500 yards of offense. They outscored LaVille in every quarter en route to a dominant 55-12 high school football victory. "It's not necessarily plays, it was the physicality that North Judson brought and we didn't match," LaVille head coach Matt Thacker said when asked about what he felt were keys. "Therefore, they had several good plays and we did not. Hats off to North Judson, they earned the victory in every capacity." NJSP runs a hard-nosed, ground-and-pound style offense. They like to try and dominate the line of scrimmage, chew up the clock, and wear down the opposition. Logan Pradtke and Aiden McGowen were two very successful runners against the Blue Crew defense. Pradtke ran unofficially for just under 160 yards and a touchdown, while the latter was just shy of 90 yards, but hit paydirt four times. Judson scored six times in the first half to take a 41-6 lead into the locker room. Thacker's crew used a big play from Dylan Miller before halftime. The speedster started his kickoff return headed toward the near side. Just when it looked like he was going to be brought down, he broke a couple of tackles. Then shifted course and gears to out run everybody, including the kicker for an exciting 83 yard kick return. "He gave us the spark and has the ability to do so anytime he has the ball in his hands," Thacker said. "Dylan is a special young man and we're very glad that he is a Lancer." With the exception of four pass attempts, North Judson kept grinding it out in a running clock for the entire second half. LaVille made a special play late in the game to give its offense one more series before the horn. The Blue Crew defense forced a fumble. Payton Slisz scooped up a loose ball inside the Lancer 10 and hustled about 70 yards. Then deep in Judson territory, Sam King took advantage of some fine blocking, cut up the seam and found the end zone for his first touchdown as a varsity player. "It was great to see our younger guys get to have some experience and have success as well," noted the Lancer boss. "Whenever this is possible it is great going forward. " It's a long season and one game does not make a season. We asked Thacker about this type of loss. "You either look in the mirror and fix it, or you keep lying to yourself," Thacker explained. "North Judson showed us exactly who we are and we need to fix it now, not later. They were able to exploit some weaknesses that Triton was able to show and did a great job of exploiting those weaknesses the entire game. However, as in the Triton game there were plays to be made and WE have to execute with all 11 guys or we'll continue to be inconsistent on special teams, defense and offense. "North Judson is a great football program." LaVille moves to 1-1 overall and will face state-ranked Evansville Mater Dei on Saturday, September 5.
