BRUSHY PRAIRIE - LaVille traveled to Prairie Heights for a Friday night high school scrimmage at Hubert Cline Field. LaVille Media had a chance to catch up for Coach Thacker From The Sidelines! LAVILLE MEDIA: Coach, talk about the look that you got of the offense on that first drive. Nice to see Griffen get a read near the goal line and get into the end zone. COACH THACKER: "The first drive is what you wanted to see as far as execution with our first group," said LaVille coach Matt Thacker. " After that we wanted to get as many reps as we could in varsity type settings for our young kids. Tonight offered them a great opportunity to get on film and get better and they did. "We also wanted to rep some things on offense that need work. We were able to do that." LAVILLE MEDIA: Talk about the defensive side of the football. Justin Sellers, Dylan Miller and Johnny Yoder, just some guys that stepped up to make some plays. COACH THACKER: "Defensively we did the same. With our first and second groups we did well early and then made several substitutions to get looks from guys that we’re trying to develop ... Jonny, Justin and Dylan all showed what they are capable of and that is exactly what we wanted to see," explained Thacker. "Jonny does a great job of taking on blocks on the edge forcing perimeter players to hold him with his pursuit. That happened tonight with a holding penalty. Dylan flies to the ball and does a great job of understanding what we want. It’s great to see a guy like Justin come back out his senior year and make an impact. Excited to see him continue to get better." LAVILLE MEDIA: Talk about your overall read of the first Friday Night lights for this group of Lancers. COACH THACKER: "Overall thoughts we got to see what we wanted. Which was high level offensive play early on and our younger guys continue to get better." LaVille will open the season at Triton on August 21. Kick is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
