LAKEVILLE - The LaVille football team is scheduled to participate in a THUD Scrimmage on June 25. LHS is set to welcome Churubusco, New Prairie, and West Noble to Lancer Field. The scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM EDT. There will be no charge for admission. In football, "THUD" refers to a level of practice contact where players execute a play at full speed, collide, and make physical contact — but stop before bringing the ball carrier to the ground. The drill ends with a quick whistle once the defender makes solid contact above the waist, keeping both players on their feet. Coaches utilize "thud" drills (often called "thud tempo" or "thud contact") to allow players to practice full-speed collisions and blocks safely. It is designed to simulate game intensity while greatly reducing the risk of injury from players hitting the ground.
