LAKEVILLE - LaVille girls tennis returns nine players for the upcoming high school season and third year coach April Miller is excited for the 2026 group. "This season is shaping up to be a great season," said Miller. "We have a good amount of returning players from last year. Cloie Davis, Lilly Higley, Kenzie Kahle as well Avery Lee and Emma Filley who played swing between junior varsity and varsity last year. We also will have the addition of Lorelei Carey and Peyton Arnett." Gone to graduation last spring are Katelyn Henry, Louise Isenberg, Sydnee Miller, Meghan Menting, Francesca Bottaro, Felicity Demiar, Paula Oneca. The Lancers opened the regular season with a 3-2 victory and got fourth at the John Glenn Invitational. LHS graduated seven from a team that finished 5-9, including a sectional championship match loss to #1 South Bend Saint Joseph. Miller, however, is excited about this group of Lancers. "I am extremely excited with where the girls are all around," said Miller, who is in her third season at LaVille. "... mentally, physically, they have a great group, dynamic, and are very supportive of each other. They are ready to go out and win!" Also among those back for LaVille are Gianna Rossetti and Belle Roper. "Cloie is an extremely strong player and a great team leader as one of my captains," explained Miller. "Kenzie Kahle and Emma Filley are shaping up to be a great doubles team this year and are going to be extremely competitive. Kenzie is also a captain and great as well at leading the team and encouraging the underclassman." Miller is also looking for her crew to be competitive in the Indiana Northern State Conference. "I think we are going to be competitive this year for INSC. The girls have improved immensely since last season and are going to come out strong!" LaVille will play in the South Bend Saint Joseph Sectional later in the season. Along with the Lancers, teams from Glenn, South Bend Riley, South Bend Washington, and the host Huskies. The next regular season match is scheduled for April 14 against South Bend Washington.
