PLYMOUTH - The rivalry returns! From 1966-67 until 2007-08, LaVille and Plymouth met on the hardwood for five decades. GAMEDAY will return to Plymouth High School on February 27, 2026 to renew their rivalry at Jack Edison Court. The JV game is set for a 615pm tip, with the varsity to follow. PHS leads the all-time series 47-9, including a 26-3 advantage in games played at Plymouth High School during that time frame. The last LaVille win at Plymouth was a 69-67 in 1989. The two schools, a shade under 10 miles apart, have met in the regular season and in the Indiana High School state basketball tournament since 1966. Plymouth is 7-14 overall following a 63-56 victory at Maconaquah on February 21. Parker Bagley and Dan Nguyen led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points each. Kylen Ellery had 13 points for PHS, while the Pilgrims controlled the boards, 37-24. "They run some zone defense and some man defense," LaVille coach Michael Edison said when asked about the upcoming opponent. "They play an extremely tough schedule and are definitely better than their record indicates. As the year has gone on, I feel like they have improved quite a bit." Plymouth continues to compete in the Northern Lakes Conference and plays a mostly big-school schedule. Coach Greg Miller's team does play roughly one-third of the schedule against 1A and 2A size schools. Miller's team averages 45.0 points per game and are 6-3 so far this season when scoring 45 points or more. The defense allows 52.3 points per outing A trio of players lead a balanced scoring output this season in Plymouth. Nguyen averages 9.9 per game, while Kylen Ellery adds 9.7 and Kyleb Ellery 8.9 for PHS. "They have three players that are shooting 30% or better from three-point range," noted Edison. "The older Ellery boy is a very good slasher and is really good at getting to the hoop. They definitely have a lot of weapons that we will have to keep track of." This will be a little different look for both coach Michael Edison and his father and Plymouth coaching legend Jack Edison. Michael played for his dad at Plymouth, where he graduated in 1995. Now coaching at LaVille, both Michael and Jack will be coaching from the visitor bench and taking in a whole different view in the newly named Jack Edison Court. "We have never played Plymouth since I've been here at LaVille," said Michael. "Plymouth will be a tough place for us to play." LHS enters the game with a 14-9 overall record after a 63-60 loss to South Bend Washington on February 24. "We did not shoot the ball very well in our last outing so if we could shoot a little better that would help out tremendously," said Michael Edison. "Taking care of the ball and rebounding will be a huge key as well." LaVille is 5-3 in games played on the road and 3-2 in the month of February. Plymouth is 4-7 in games played at home and 4-2 in the month of February so far. The game be heard on MAX 98.3FM and can also be viewed on live stream by cliking the link below. Game on ...
